Amazon Kindle 2 Review

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

More on this post is at http://www.TechBytez.net … Here is the review in written format:

The Amazon Kindle 2 is a device that is now very unnoticable to many people because of the new eReaders like the Barnes & Noble Nook, Sony’s eReader, and the new contender, the Apple iPad. The Amazon Kindle features a slim line design that is as thin as a magazine measuring in at 1/3 inch. It is also lighter than a regular paperback book. I like how thin it is because it feels very “comfy” in the hand. I have no strain in the hand and it is easier to hold than a regular book. You can also hold it with one hand which is better. This lightweight design makes it very unique and a feature that I like. Besides from the lightweight design, the Kindle has 3g built in which is a great perk. I can download books for a low price anywhere. On other eReaders it is a premium that you have to pay up front for all future use. The Kindle 2 has a 6″ paper like display that displays print clearly and does not strain your eye. Of course with this technology it takes about a 1-2 second intermission to change the page. This might remind you like one of those magnet pads where when you write you see the magnet lift up. It is kind of like that only that is obviously faster, clearer, and has a crispier text. So overall the display is used with e-ink which is good for reading. The Kindle has a built in web browser which is terribly slow and has to deal with the e-ink display. If I was the design team, I would have not implemented this feature. The storage of this device is fantastic, as Amazon claims you can get a maximum of over 1500 books. I don’t really know if that is completely true, as my Kindle only holds a few favorites of mine. The battery life is good, lasting for one week, but I do get the annoyance of having to recharge whenever I do want to read a book because I don’t read books as much as I read things online. Another feature implemented into the Kindle which is overlooked by some is the text-to-speech feature. This basically reads the text out loud. While using this feature, books are never the same. The text to speech software is horrible and does not show the character emotion or anything. In the future they should fix this in maybe a much needed software update. Now you may want to know how are you going to get books. Amazon has their own store which boasts a large selection of over 620,000 books. This is a lot more than other eReader contenders. I like that most best sellers appear in the store. To access the store, you have to go through a couple of menus but then you can use the physical qwerty keyboard. Yes, the Kindle has a qwerty keyboard that has keys that are very “clicky” in my opinion. I really am glad that they added this as I like this very much! Overall, this is a great device and I hope you enjoy my very long review. I know it was a long one, but to me it was a good one. I am fascinated that this device has no eye strain and is able to connect to get books virtually globally.

Have a creative day, more reviews, leaks, and info on the way!

Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet W/ Android Review Pt 3 (Setti

Friday, April 9th, 2010

www.techreviewonline.co.uk video review. Please join our forums.

$299 16gb version, I purchased a 8gb Micro sdhc card to increase the storage capability. Please ask me if you want me to Review a particular android app/game that you want to see on the Archos 5 internet media tablet especially to see if it works well with it and I will see what I can do! :D

Part 3 of my review of the Archos 5 Internet media tablet with Android. I give you an overview of all the many options in the Settings Menu. Please watch Part 4 here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JynLE17TBWg

The Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet with the Android software is a wonderful combination of a personal media player and miniature computer! It is literally like a netbook and has advanced capabilities beyond that of your typical media players. It is a lot bigger than the Zune HD and ipod touch 3g with a gorgeous 4.8′
screen. The SSID flash versions that come in 8, 16, 32gb are thin and lightweight. The hard drive models that start at 160gb and go up to 500gigs are a bit thicker obviously

The A5 it is quite simply one of the best devices I have ever owned if not, THE best. It is not without it’s faults but it is really an amazing device.
For Tech specs, go here: http://www.archos.com/products/imt/archos_5it/specs.html?country=us&lang=en

The touch screen is not as touch responsive as the ipod touch or Zune HD with it’s OLED screen but it’s still
easy to use. You need to apply a bit of extra pressure with your fingers and thumbs because of the layers of
the screen. It’s not a huge deal and you will get used to it in no time. You MUST calibrate the screen by going into settings as soon as you set it up or you might find yourself being frustrated with you not touching the keyboard letters/numbers/games/apps correctly. Calibrating is essential. The screen although not as sharp as the Zune HD, is still a delight and very enjoyable because of it’s sheer size. Watching a music video or a video podcast or your own personal media is a lot of fun with the A5 it! I would give the A5 it the slight edge over the ipod touch 3g despite it’s better black level on video and the Zune HD despite it’s OLED glass screen.

The Google marketplace apps work for the most part really well on the A5 it but some didn’t work at all but
the majority so far did for me. A lot of the apps in the marketplace and the offical AppsLib Archos app store
are FREE!

I highly recommend this device, it’s lightweight, portable, has a beautiful large touch screen, has fast web
browsing, can watch youtube, you can use google voice, google talk, skype and thousands of other apps on it.
It comes with the Android OS and is one of the most amazing devices I have ever owned. For me the competition is between the Zune HD, ipod touch 3g and Archos 5 internet media tablet w/ Android. If you are into phones, I would also add the Motorola Droid in there too. The A5 is not perfect (what device isn’t), has some bugs but overall is well worth the purchase! BUY IT!!
