Over the next year we are going to start to see e-Readers offer similar and overlapping services as tablets and netbooks. Wifi enabled being on the big ones.
The display at the Freescale Headquarters in Taipei gives us a good idea of the various form factors and functionality that eReaders are going to be exhibiting for the rest of 2010.

NRC ePaper video review :: eReaders.nl

Sinds medio oktober 2009 is de ePaper van NRC Handelsblad zowel in PDF- als in ePub-vorm beschikbaar. Hiermee wordt de weg geopend om de NRC ePaper op allerlei verschillende typen ereader apparaten te lezen; de oude ePaper versie van NRC was enkel te lezen op de iLiad van iRex.
Dat maakt nieuwsgierig naar de leeservaring van die vernieuwde ePaper op de diverse ereader apparaten. En daarom nemen we als eReaders.nl graag de proef op de som.
Inhoud en opbouw
Deze video-review toont de leeservaring van de ePaper op 4 verschillende typen ereaders, waaronder 2 eInk readers:
1. de Sony PRS-600 Touch Edition, een eInk reader met een 6 inch touchscreen scherm;
2. de iRex DR1000S, een eInk reader met een 10 inch scherm dat met een styluspen bedienbaar is;
3. de iPod Touch (vergelijkbaar met de iPhone) met een 3,5 inch touchscreen kleurenscherm;
4. een normale laptop met 15 inch kleurenscherm.
Op de Sony eInk reader en op de iPod Touch lezen we de ePaper in ePub-vorm; op de iRex eInk reader doen we dat in PDF-vorm en op de laptop doen we het zowel in PDF- als in ePub-vorm.
De videoclip duurt een kleine 10 minuten. Mocht je weinig tijd hebben, en enkel geïnteresseerd zijn in het lezen van de ePaper op één specifiek apparaat: het stuk over de iPod Touch begint op 0:50 minuut, vanaf minuut 3:50 gaat het over de Sony eInk reader, vanaf minuut 5:20 over de iRex DR1000 en vanaf minuut 6.30 komt de laptop aan bod.
