Which eReader to buy?

Friday, August 6th, 2010

A few months ago I was considering getting an iPad, but I honestly can’t justify the price for the current functionality. I’ve decided to wait until the second or third generation of the device. But, I still want an eReader, my only problem is that I’m having a hard time getting some good comparisons.

I noticed Amazon released two new Kindles yesterday, at very attractive price points. I was also looking at the Sony Reader and heard they were good. Can anyone provide me with pros and cons of the two? Which has more books? And finally, seeing Kindle has two new versions, do you think Sony will be following suit with updated Readers? Any idea when that might happen?

Thanks in advance!

I say the Kindle.

I love my Kindle very much. If you’re thinking about getting the Kindle, I’ll say get it and you won’t regret. Right now I’ve read over 10 books with the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, it is really clear like reading books; and even I read with the device for long hours, I don’t feel tired. The internet browsing comes handy as well when I want to look for information on some specific area. My only complaint is the white case, the Kindle is only sold in white at the time when I got it, but now the new Kindle has graphite case which looks much better ;)

Kindle books are cheaper than hard copies. I suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer who is also a book lover, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR9J54TZ1541OR%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Frdp%255Fperm&tag=more_info-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

And there are some websites, where you can find more than a million of free books for the Kindle, so that’s why you no longer need to get to library, you can actually own these books:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/b/?node=2245146011&tag=more_info-20

If you need to read PDF with charts and graphics, you may want to go for the larger Kindle DX (both the new Kindle and the new Kindle DX are now at a cheaper price and with better contrast). Read this review and you should be able to decide which one to get:

Hope this helps.

Amazon Kindle or a Kobo eReader?

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

I really like the idea of having a device that I can buy books and read books off of. It just seems so practical! I wouldn’t have to go to the store every time I wanted a new book and the books seem to be cheaper on these devices. Now I know the Kobo eReader is relatively new and the Amazon Kindle came out with it’s second version, but I’m not sure which is better.

Any suggestions? Thanks (:

…The Kobo is a piece of shit with tons of hardware and software issues. Buy the Kindle.

Barnes and noble nook ereader Wi-Fi

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

This is a review of the nook wi- fi by barnes and nobles. My Voice is incredibl

To me, the nook is the best e reader on the market. The touch screen is smooth, and creates a sexy look, unlike the amazon kindle, which seems outdated, with the buttons. The Nook Wi-Fi (which is what i have in the video) is 150 dollars, making it one of the Most affordable e readers in the market. Also, there are over 95 thousand free ebooks. With a battery life of up to 10 days, you rarely have to charge it. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product if you do not want to hold a ten pound book or bring 30 books on a trip. Plus, ebooks are usually cheaper than the actual book. Thanks!

Which one is better, the Kobo ereader from Borders or the Kindle ereader from Amazon.com? Which device….?

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Must be the Amazon Kindle. The Kobo ereader is too basic, and missing lots of functions that the Kindle has. The Kindle is much more mature.

I’ve mentioned quite a lot about the Kindle, in a previous answer here:

Do ebooks cost money on an ereader/nook?

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Hi people! I am wondering if it costs money to buy books for a nook or an pandigital ereader because i was thinking about getting one because i love reading! And is it possible to get free books? And would you recommend this basing on quality? And which brand has the most reasonable pricing, durability, and quality? Can you be as specific as possible? Thanks! Love u Guys!!!!

While there are tons of eBooks that are available for purchase, starting as low as $.99, there are also tons of eBooks that are available free, and not just public domain. Many writers will make their first book or the first in a series free, because they want readers to get hooked and buy more from them. You can find the free books at a number of websites, in addition to the obvious ones like Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

Nook, kindle, or Sony ereader?

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

I have a few questions about these devices.
First off, how do you download the ebooks onto the Sony ereader?
Secondly, which one would you reccomend for a dedecated reader who would travel with this ereader, including the beach so we wouldn’t enjoy a glare. Size? Cost?
I would like feedback on the NEWEST models please.
Also, no links to long articles. Please help me choose!

For the Sony Reader, you need to get books through the computer then copy it to the Sony Reader. For the Kindle and the Nook, they come with free wireless so you can download books directly to them.

I’ve compared the three latest models in a previous answer here, guess it’ll help you decide which one to choose:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100514144151AAOaOja

And it is a myth that the Kindle can only get books from Amazon. Actually the Kindle supports quite a variety of formats as well, including very common open formats like PDF, MS Word, etc. So you can get books from other websites selling books in those formats as well. See "Files Kindle Recognizes" section here on what file format the Kindle can support:

Should i get an ereader?

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

I was thinking about buying an ereader, but i’m not sure whether I should or not. I read all the time and my books are starting to take up too much room. Should I buy one? If so, which kind and why? Also, are ebooks cheaper than regular books?

get one! i had a kindle until it broke and then i bought the nook from barnes and noble. i love the nook. ebooks are cheaper then regular books and you dont have to make sure a store has them, drive to get them etc. just click and download and its there. your also saving trees! i mean i loved having my hardbacks and paper backs, but after moving multiple times…there are just to many. they are heavy and they take up a lot of room. i carry my nook everywhere. its nice having ALL your books in one place…if your on a plane or on vacation and finish a book, you have another waiting for you. no need to haul multiple books. the nook also has wifi+free att 3G. you also have games on the nook like sudoku and chess, which are nice. it can play mp3s if you want to put songs on. the screen looks like an actual paper back and has different font types and sizes which is good for your eyes. has a small color touch screen which is how you select your book and other options, and you can either view your books by title or their covers. i like the touch screen. the kindle doesnt have this. it has this little keyboard that i just didnt like very much. incase your ereader breaks all your books are saved in your online barnes and noble account, so you didnt loose all your stuff. i read a lot (like 6 books a week) and i have surely saved money on ebooks, gas and time trying to get books. the nook can hold 1,500 books and you can even get an sd card and put it in if you need more space. it holds its charge very well. a charge can last a 7-10 days easily. and if your batter dies you can plug it in for 10 minutes and your good to go again. hope this helps!
