Not considering the Whispernet (since I don’t live in the US) what’s the best reader, Kindle2 or Sony Reader?
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010I want to buy an eReader, but since I live abroad I have no use for Kindle 2’s Whispernet function (I’d have to download books through my broadband).
Every review I read stated that Kindle 2 is way better than Sony Reader, but they all point to the Whispernet connection as THE main advantage.
So taking that aside, would you still recommend Kindle 2 over the Sony Reader?
It is definitely not a good choice for the Kindle, if you are outside the United States. You know, Amazon doesn’t sell the Kindle outside the U.S. Even if you find way to get one, it will still be a headache on how to get the digital ebooks (Kindle books) to read, or when you want to order new ebooks, because they are bounded by import/export laws and you need to have a U.S. credt card to order them on Amazon (it is the only place which sells Kindle books right now). See the last third question from the Kindle 2 FAQ here for details:

I’ll suggest you to go for sony reader PRS-505 instead, quite a lot of people like it more than the Kindle 2 because it has better PDF support. The price is cheaper too. See a review below from an actual customer who compares the latest versions of sony readers and the Kindle:

Hope that helps.
Amazon Kindle 2 Unboxing
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010Best book ebook/ bookreader/ereader?
Monday, February 15th, 2010I was thinking about a book reader, I looked up reviews on the kindle, which were mixed. After looking at few different devices, it seems that maybe the technology, or at least its application is immature.
I was hoping I might get owner/users opinions on these gadgets?
I love my Kindle 2 very much. Yes, the application inside (like web browser) is not mature, but seems I can just have what I need and expect. I can buy the book, then read it, highlight, bookmark, lookup dictionary all on the device, and it is really nice.
And since Amazon provide books for the Kindle cheaper than actual books, it has saved me quite a lot of money. Right now I’ve read over 10 books with the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, it is really clear like reading books; and even I read with the device for long hours, I don’t feel tired. My only complaint is the white case, right now all the Kindles are in white color… I think it will be cool if I can have a black or deep blue color Kindle
I suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer who is also a book lover, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:

BTW, there are some website like this one, where you can find more than 20,000 free books for the Kindle. So no need to go to library to borrow them, you can actually own them:

Hope this helps.

I wouldnt mind if there are people with the Kindle… just tell me why i should get it.

))))
I would recommend buying kindle. The books on kindle are many and always the number is increasing also the cost is cheaper.It’s sure a worth buying. Wireless is a unique feature I will say and that’s make really value for money. 3G wireless and global coverage, I personally travel a lot and really worthy for me. You can have any newspaper at any place. Paper like display, 1500 books storage and list is on. .I love this little magic book.
