Kindle, Sony Reader, The Nook and all the like?
Tuesday, August 24th, 2010So I actually hate these ereader things (I like the physical book better) but my room is WAY too small for another bookshelf. With a massive guinea pig cage, a hamster, myself, and a dog, it’s cramped in here and I need to down size.
Are they any good? I have bad motion sickness (I can’t be in a moving vehicle for more than 4 hours, no fair rides, etc etc) so I can’t read while I’m in a car. All the shadows and everything make me nauseous, but I read the Kindle doesn’t have glares. Fact?
Which is the best? The price isn’t a problem, I just don’t want anything "uber slim and can fit in your pocket!!!". So yeah, recommendations and reviews anyone?
I agree with Rob. You can get an Ipad for a lot more than the other readers, but you can also get the smaller non-3G version which isn’t that expensive.
I bought an Ipad because I wanted an e-reader (I prefer the physical book, but I’m running out of storage space for the books I’ve collected over 35 years or so), but not one that is dedicated to that alone. With all the apps and surfing you can do on an Ipad, they’re the best deal.
I’ve heard that the Nook has difficulty connecting even in an Barnes and Noble store. And the fact that Amazon was ripping people off with the Kindle before the Nook forced them to lower their price still bugs me. My doctor swears by the Sony, says it’s great, but I’ve never used one. The Nook is really too small for my tastes, about paperback size, and the larger Kindle DX has a prohibitive price for a dedicated reader. Best thing you can do is go play with the ones you have access to. It’s really a matter of personal preference.
E-reader light reviews.mov

I’m reviewing three popular lights for e-readers and users of the Amazon Kindles – M-Edge, Belkin, and Mighty Bright. In general, all three lights performed well in providing sufficient visibility in dark conditions. Though each is not without a hand full of minor caveats. Check out the video to get the scoop. If you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to post a comment below or send me a video in return.

Amazon Kindle DX Graphite Video Review
Thursday, July 15th, 2010
A video review of the Amazon Kindle DX Graphite ebook reader. This is Amazon’s newest 9.7″ ereader and it features new screen technology that increases contrast by 50%. The Kindle DX Graphite has free 3G that you can use to download books and surf web sites, built-in storage for up to 3,500 books and text-to-speech. The Kindle works with Amazon ebooks and PDF files but it does not work with ePub ebooks.

Kobo eReader review
Sunday, July 11th, 2010
Kobo eReader , which has the same-size 6-inch e-ink display as the $259 Kindle and Nook, is something of a no-frills e-reader with no Wi-Fi or 3G wireless connectivity (and the screen has 8 levels of gray, not 16). However, it does offer a Bluetooth connection for “wirelessly syncing with select smartphones and updating your reading list on the go.” It comes with 1GB of internal memory, and there’s an SD card expansion slot for adding more. (Borders has full tech specs, on its site).
